Vampires are definitely not my thing, so I was surprised at how much I liked most of
The Historian. Ultimately, though, I didn't think the book was as good as it could have been; it begins to fall off after the first two-thirds or so. However, I don't regret reading it - if I'd had the time, I would have read it in one sitting, and when I finished the book, I wanted to find something like it - immediately!
The descriptions were wonderful; you felt like you'd been to the places she describes - my husband started avoiding me because I kept saying, "Oh, listen to this," and then reading sections aloud.
